SELFIES.. . A DISEASE?
Thought this was funny about selfies and how it is linked to mental illness according to some researchers. Check it out. Interesting idea that our whole society is addicted to how we look. Linked in to what we were talking about on wednesdays class as well.
Interesting article. I have family members who have hundreds, maybe thousands, of selfies on their facebook pages. It gets old.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. ..It is really popular with youth and it kinda makes sense that they are caught up in tv and magazines and have formed their self image around these figures which we are all obsessed about our celebrities in this culture so obveously they obsess about their appearance because that is what we are being programed to do instead of just enjoy the person we are who we evolve into from making really sound morals and keep an open mind about new things. I think its interesting that we nit pick people when we meet them and judge them so quickly as well, like we look at someones big nose and then thats what we see right away instead of their beautiful eyes, of course not everyone does this, but I believe a lot do. Again this refelects how self confident everyone is now about themselves and their appearance, were beating each other up over things that are.... well, US! lol
ReplyDeleteI feel like this really relates to the project we just started. I started getting some photos this afternoon and I realized that the some of the most meaningful self portraits aren't at all flattering. Its going to be pretty hard to be really subjective when picking through pictures of ourselves I'm thinking.
